Midsummer Nights

Friday 31 July 2026

83 Dalston Lane, London (map)

On the last evening of July, we celebrated a warm summer’s evening with a fantastic buzz and great chat around the table - laid with a delicious three-course meal expertly crafted using seasonal, organic and artisanal produce.

It is officially midsummer, so of course we had a supper club at our Dalston home to celebrate the warm evenings, joy of community, and bountiful food harvests. This event marks our first event of a new partnership with The Castle Garden - a thriving organic urban food garden in Hackney who are generously donating some of their seasonal, home-grown produce to support our non-profit supper clubs. And what a wonderful spread they offered us! Marrows as long as your arm, cucumbers triple the width of supermarket ones, and runner beans in four varieties in green, yellow, and purple. Along with this, we received artisanal Sicilian sausages from the West Hampstead branch of The Hampstead Butcher & Providore London. Our chefs Andi, India, and Alan were delighted and quickly began to plan a delicious three-course meal that allowed to ingredients to shine. Guests began arriving and immediately conversation flowed easily and there was a lovely buzz in the air. The food went down a treat, along with delightful glasses of rosé and specially selected wine. We had a fantastic team of volunteers on the night - Brogan, Meggie, and Dolly - who ensured the night was a seamless success. Everything was so smooth that we all had the opportunity to sit and enjoy some food together once everything was flowing.

Meanwhile, Daniel, our long-term volunteer pastry chef, was crafting spiced summer plum cakes, which was so popular that many people had seconds! And finally of course was the raffle - cinema tickets generously donated from Rio Cinema, a shop gift voucher, bottle of prosecco, and a box of chocolates. We couldn’t have asked for a better summer supper club. Once guest commented: "It's ages since I've been to a dinner party" and that’s exactly what we hope to achieve - community dinner parties with restaurant-quality food and great conversation. Thank you to everyone that came, donated something, served, sat, ate, chatted, cooked, and generally made this night the wonderful dinner party that it was!
